00:03:17.014 --> 00:03:19.002 Hi, Annette. 00:03:19.002 --> 00:03:22.023 If you wanted to turn your video on and unmute yourself, that would be great. 00:03:30.008 --> 00:03:31.021 Great. 00:03:31.021 --> 00:03:34.016 We can hear you now. 00:03:34.016 --> 00:03:36.008 Thanks, Annette. 00:03:36.008 --> 00:03:40.000 MS DWYER: I'd just like to thank the Mayor and the other Councillors 00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:46.000 for the opportunity to make suggestions as a resident of Surf Coast Shire in terms 00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:50.006 of the 2023/2024 budget. 00:03:50.006 --> 00:03:57.000 I've been a fulltime resident of Anglesea, Surf Coast, for the last 16 years. 00:03:57.000 --> 00:04:02.022 My submission comes in under area 6, which is Council Plan: Arts 00:04:02.022 --> 00:04:05.000 and Creativity. 00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:07.018 Eleven years ago, the Anglesea Community House Committee 00:04:07.018 --> 00:04:10.015 of Management wanted to showcase what was unique 00:04:10.015 --> 00:04:15.007 to Anglesea via an artform that could be produced by residents 00:04:15.007 --> 00:04:19.011 for visitors that travel through our town via the Great Ocean Road. 00:04:19.011 --> 00:04:22.009 Six mosaic artforms were designed and templated 00:04:22.009 --> 00:04:24.014 by a professional mosaic artist. 00:04:24.014 --> 00:04:29.016 The tiling was completed by residents from school age to seniors. 00:04:29.016 --> 00:04:32.002 The project took 18 months to complete. 00:04:32.002 --> 00:04:36.016 Funding was primarily from grants both within the Shire and statewide. 00:04:36.016 --> 00:04:40.022 Once the sculptures were completed, the brochure produced to allocate and 00:04:40.022 --> 00:04:43.020 to explain their importance, they were handed over 00:04:43.020 --> 00:04:45.020 to the Surf Coast Shire. 00:04:45.020 --> 00:04:48.020 Since then, the artworks have needed minor repairs 00:04:48.020 --> 00:04:52.002 and this has been financed by the groups responsible 00:04:52.002 --> 00:04:56.019 for the initial work: the Anglesea Men's Shed and one by the Arts Department 00:04:56.019 --> 00:04:58.018 of the Surf Coast Shire. 00:04:58.018 --> 00:05:02.008 Now the Clydesdale horse and wagon are in need of repair 00:05:02.008 --> 00:05:05.011 from constantly being ridden. 00:05:05.011 --> 00:05:07.014 On discussion, I have become aware that there 00:05:07.014 --> 00:05:13.006 is no official register of artworks in and belonging to the Surf Coast Shire. 00:05:13.006 --> 00:05:17.011 This shocked me, as there are amazingly talented people in 00:05:17.011 --> 00:05:21.014 all forms of art in our Shire that should be recognised. 00:05:21.014 --> 00:05:25.003 Therefore, I am requesting two ideas for consideration 00:05:25.003 --> 00:05:28.013 into the 2023/2024 budget. 00:05:28.013 --> 00:05:31.010 One: that a register of all artwork belonging 00:05:31.010 --> 00:05:36.017 to the Shire be recorded and updated annually; two, that an amount 00:05:36.017 --> 00:05:40.014 of money be set aside annually to maintain these artworks. 00:05:40.014 --> 00:05:45.010 Any unused funds would roll over to the following year's budget. 00:05:45.010 --> 00:05:48.010 The Anglesea Community House believes that this initiative, 00:05:48.010 --> 00:05:52.005 where the community work together, is worth preserving 00:05:52.005 --> 00:05:55.006 and support this proposal. 00:05:55.006 --> 00:05:56.018 Thank you. 00:06:00.000 --> 00:06:03.004 MAYOR PATTISON: Thank you very much, Annette, for presenting to us. 00:06:03.004 --> 00:06:05.011 Do any Councillors have an question for Annette?
